Fasching

Today in Germany ends the season of Fasching; it is like our version of Mardi Gras. Last week Hunter went to a Kinder-Fasching Party, dressed as a knight. It took going to that party to understand what Fasching really was. My neighbors kept asking me if we have anything like that in America...now I know. While most of you are having visits from "Old man winter", we in Bavaria are enjoying temperatures in 50's, and lots of sun. This is very unseasonable, and the threat of snow still looms, maybe even into May.

I have become delinquent at updating our blog; I started off doing it every week, then every other, now once a month...And there is so much I want to share with you all. I think I will have to be more deliberate about blogging or each one will become like a book! haha. Hunter is growing like a weed. He is tall and thin. He is happy, as long as he gets his naps. He is making many friends and loves playing outside with his best buddy Lukas. Hunter is learning to pedal a tricycle, and is not really thrilled with potty-training. His favorite food right now is fish sticks and clementines. He wants to be a big boy, just like his Daddy!

God has really been teaching Chris and I about the power of "lag-time". You know that time before changes occur; the time between sharing and acceptance; a time when the Holy Spirit working in lives of individuals. We have learned that God even directs and orchestrates this "lag-time". It seems applicable to much of our life these days, from our marriage to discipline to ministry. I believe many times we discount this period or become frustrated with a lack of action; for example, when I ask Chris to put away his clothes and two days later I have to ask again, and then he finally does it...we must remember, God is still working on hearts even in the "lag time". We have several teens in the stage of their walk. They may know or have heard the truths of God's love and acceptance, but are afraid to take the next step into a deeper relationship. Pray for the teens that are in this "lag time".

Living in a military community is full of change. We are entering that time of people being reassigned to new locations and missions. In a matter of months the dynamics of our community could completely change. It's like our ministry has a new challenge every year, to re-mold to the needs of the ever-changing community. Even the chapel will undergo some leadership changes this summer.
