Transformations
The changes that have taken place over the last month are to the God's glory. Three weeks ago, Chris returned from taking a group of 38 students and volunteers to Slovakia for this years service project. The theme was "Every Day"...living out you life for Christ. Our team constructed an outside classroom/gazebo, and painted the entrance for an inner city elementary school; in the spare time, our team did relational ministry through VBS and sports ministry. In the midst of the "Every Day" a school in Slovakia has been transformed, on the outside and many of the hearts of the kids inside. "Offer your life as a living sacrifice...". In the midst of "Every Day" some of our military teens came to know our Lord, others made deeper commitments, and still with others a seed was planted. Lives have been transformed. Our ministry has been transformed by the Service Project and recent events. We are seeing more teens at the Coffee House, and noticing a significant change in the community as a whole. Your prayers are so vital. This summer we will experience significant turnover, which will transform the culture of our community. We have 3 chaplains leaving this summer, and two more later in the fall. One of these chaplains just recently commented that he has noticed a real change within the collaborative efforts in the community since our arrival; he told us he really appreciated our hearts and purpose for UNITY.
While Chris was away, Hunter and I enjoyed a long visit from my Mom. She helped with Hunter, housework (ask her how many loads of laundry she did), and gave me time to finish my Masters Degree. Yea...my life has experienced transformation, and I am now at a new stage of my life...no more school! During Easter week, a good friend, Rita, also came for visit; it was great to share our life with friends from home.
Hunter is in the process of numerous transformations, as he is potty-training and learning to ride a bike with training wheels. Last week we went to an Open House at Hunter's Kindergarten; this gave us the opportunity to meet the teachers and other students. He talks about his "new school" all the time and can't wait to begin in September. This week his best buddy, Lukas will celebrate his third birthday, and then next month Hunter will celebrate his birthday in St. Louis. This will be our first time in the states in a year and a half.
