Being Missional
Today, we rested around Kandern. I got to watch the King's Speech for the first time, which is an incredible movie. Although the day was filled with relaxation, it might have been one of the best days yet.
For dinner, the missionary couple who owns the building that we are staying in invited us to dinner. The students spent the evening asking them questions about servant leadership, being a missionary, and life. The discussion was absolutely amazing and better than any guest lecturer one could have speak to a class. The main point was to be missional in what you do. In essence, we are all missionaries and servants of God. He has determined what we were created to do: teach, make art, sing, be a business person, etc. However, you must be deliberate about being missional out of what you do. Along with this great insight, his one nugget of wisdom was to learn more about business and integrate it into ministry. He believes that full-time ministry is shifting and needs to shift from support raising to self-sustaining ministry. His vision is amazing for what God has for them in the Art Factory. The time was so good, that we have decided to stay at least one extra day here in Kandern. God is speaking to our hearts as we listen.
In a side-bar note, one of the students and I went to breakfast while the other two slept this morning. I looked for a backeri in order to get breakfast. We finally found one. We had been there just ten minutes and in walked a missionary family that Meaghan and I had stayed with in Luzern for our tenth wedding anniversary. I would say it was coincidence, but who are we kidding. The encounter was just another God appointment. Thanks for the continued prayers.
Chris
