German Traditions

Well, we went to Frankfurt today. Surprisingly, I have never been. We took an all day train pass in that covered up to five people. The train was fun for the students and I didn't have to drive in a major city; always a plus, just ask my wife. Once we there, we walked down the river walk to the big cathedral (dome). Once in the old town center, we pulled up a chair in an outdoor cafe and listened to live music, followed by a German wedding that mostly took place in the platz next to the fountain. One by one we watched the traditions. This was made even more enjoyable when the older couple next to us realized we were Americans and began to explain to us each of the traditions, in English of course. From there, we took in all the sites and returned to the village south of Frankfurt, where our hotel is located.

The students wanted to attend church, so we looked for the kirche in our town. Once there, we took in the service, which happen to include confirmation, followed by several more traditions afterwards in the town. After a great dinner, including some great theological debates. Don't worry, I behaved myself, for the most part. Tomorrow we are going to rest, especially since nothing will be open on a Sunday. Thanks for the continued prayer support.

Chris
